Trivia

  • In the establishing shot of Sunflower Valley, the Bentley's Sunflower Valley Home is not present, indicating that this special takes place before Series 11. However, the Old Mill is present, indicating that it was filmed after.

  • It’s unknown how many years passed between the flashbacks and Series 1. Although its possible several years past by as the series started in 1999 for the UK and 2001 for the US if you go by the release dates and see that the flashbacks of this special were set in either the late 1980's or early 1990's.
  • In the US, this was released the same day as Barney: "Let's Go to the Beach" and Thomas & Friends: "Track Stars".

  • This is the first time Bird appears in Sunflower Valley.

  • This is the one of the only two Bob the Builder specials to not be feature-length, along with "Scrambler to the Rescue".
  • This special would be Mrs. Potts' final speaking role and appearance in the series to date.

Goofs

  • The 2007 Canadian release of When Bob Became a Builder mistakenly has the 2006 disc, the same exact thing happens to the US DVD, but in the opposite way, the 2006 cover and the 2007 disc mistankenly added.
