The twelfth series is the third series of Project: Build It and first premiered in the UK from 31 July to 17 August 2006 on CBeebies. In the US, the twelfth series premiered between 7 October to 11 November 2006 on PBS and debuted on Sprout in 2007. In Australia, the twelfth series first premiered between 11 to 28 July 2006 on the ABC Kids block.

• This series marks the first of a few things:
  • The first appearances of Max, Mr. Battersby, Micky Picker, Ricky Picker, Vicky Picker, Carlo Sabatini, Cassia Sabatini, Baz and Ella.
  • The first series in where Robert, Mr. Ellis and Birdie do not appear since their introductions.
  • The first series to not be dubbed in Polish.
  • The first series to have episodes whose US dub is completely lost.
• Some sources list Mr. Bentley's Assistant and Roley's Moleys as part of this series, though they are from the next series.
• This series oddly first premiered in Australia before premiering in the UK.
• Series 12 was removed from rotation on PBS Kids Sprout after 2010.
• In the US, Travis and the Tropical Fruits and Scoop the Teacher were skipped on PBS in 2006, but aired in Canada on Treehouse, and on PBS Kids Sprout in 2007. Scoop the Teacher additionally was released digitally in 2014 on the digital release Let's Build!.
• This series was produced in around late 2005 and early 2006 according to the UK credits.
• This is the only series to have an episode banned in the US (Travis and the Tropical Fruits).
