Roley's Important Job is the twelfth episode (eleventh episode to be aired) of the ninth season.
Plot
Bob and the gang plan to convert a house into a delicatessen for Mrs. Sabatini. Mrs. Sabatini is worried that the shop won't be big enough, but Bob reassures her that there will be plenty of room in the shop. Roley wants to help out, but there is nothing for him to do. So Roley decides to go out with the team despite nothing to do. Mr. Sabatini leaves too to practice with his violin.
When the team arrive, Roley checks if he still has anything to do, but unfortunately nothing. Roley tries to help out Bob and J.J. with the bricks, but it doesn't help as he knocks some of the bricks over, and made J.J. irritated. Roley decides to roll sadly away back to the yard.
Bird notices the sad Roley and gives him an idea to make him feel useful again, along with Hamish who arrived to the yard. They decide to sing a song for the Sabatinis. When Mrs. Sabatini arrives to check the delicatessen, she is first upset at the hole at the wall, but Bob tells her it's just for the window, which makes her better.
Back at the yard, Roley, Bird and Hamish are still planning up the song. Roley then decides to sing the song when the delicatessen opens. Eventually, Muck arrives and sees what's going on, but he/she thinks there's something missing he/she can't put her digger on. Roley tells both Bird and Hamish they're not doing it right and has to be perfect. Fuming, Roley thinks the song's not going right, and Bird and Hamish leave. Roley decides to sing the song himself, but it doesn't go well, so he has to find Bird and Hamish.
A worried Roley tries to find the 2 birds, and eventually finds them singing to Mr. Sabatini's violin at his restaurant. Roley apologises to Bird and Hamish, and he thinks Mr. Sabatini's violin would help out their song.
The delicatessen is soon finished. The team suddenly hear a noise, which is Roley, Bird, Hamish and Mr. Sabatini with his violin singing a song about the delicatessen. The team and even Mrs. Sabatini is impressed, and Roley tells her about how he made the song. Bob thinks that Roley had the most important job of all.
