2004 US/Canada VHS and DVD

Hang onto your hard hats! It's exciting! It's New! It's Bob the Builder: LIVE!, the friendly builder's first-ever live stage show! Bob, Wendy and their friends are revved up and ready for a fun-packed stage show that brings the wildly popular Bob the Builder television series to life. Bob and his partner, Wendy, invite children to sing and dance along with them, the mischievous Spud, and Bob's crew of fun-loving machines - Lofty, Muck, Scoop, Roley and Dizzy. When given the challenge to transform a junkyard into a bandstand, Bob and the crew entertain children while showing them how much fun it is to work together, solve problems, and build friendships. Can we do it? Yes, we can!

Plot

Bob and the team are asked to transform a heap pile into something more productive. Meanwhile, Spud wants apples from an apple tree, so he steals Bob's ladder while Bob is at the top of the rubbish pile. Also at this time, Pilchard disappears so Wendy and Roley go off to look for her. Then, while Spud is eating apples at the top of the apple tree, Mr. Bentley comes and takes the ladder back to Bob. Then once Bob finally gets down (after Scoop recommends that he slides down one of the poles) a Storm starts. Then after the storm, the team gets back to work, when Wendy notices that the rubbish heap, is a bandstand. So Bob and the team restore it. Meanwhile, Wendy helps Spud get down from the apple tree, and at the end of the show, Pilchard turns up. So overall, things turned out okay in the end.

  • This tour played in the United Kingdom and Australia in 2002, while it played in the United States and Canada during March-December 2003.
  • The show used for this special was the Wembley Arena show, in which said location is next door to Wembley Stadium in London, England.
  • All non-human characters in this show (except Spud) are portrayed as animatronics.
  • All the Machines had actual drivers controlling them from inside (except Dizzy, who was remote controlled).
  • This is the last Bob the Builder VHS to be released in America that comes in a clamshell case.
  • On North American home media releases, this is called "Bob the Builder: The Live Show!" (although the opening title card still says "Bob the Builder LIVE!").
  • All the songs in the show are from the franchise's first studio album Bob the Builder: The Album, with the exceptions of "An Apple a Day", "I Can't Get Down", "Bob's Brass Band" and "Find That Cat". The latter 4 are later adaptated into a series of 4 musical animated Bob the Builder shorts known as Bob Stars!.
  • The costumes and props from this show were sent to a recycling plant and recycled (along with one of Skip's models though he was spared from the process) around 2010.
  • The songs from The Album were actually redubbed by the American actors for the US version, unlike on the actual album.
  • In the US dub, some of the original UK voices can be heard in the credits.
  • This is one of the first few Bob the Builder USA DVDs to feature a preview of Barney, the previous DVDs of 2002 and 2003 only had previews of Kipper, Angelina Ballerina, The Wiggles, and Bob the Builder
  • It's also the last Bob the Builder USA VHS to only show previews of Bob the Builder and Rubbadubbers, starting with the next USA VHS, Snowed Under, the previews of Angelina Ballerina, The Wiggles, and Kipper make a return, and the previews of Thomas and Friends, Pingu, and Barney are added.
  • In the tour, Spud and Mr. Bentley steal Bob's ladder from the apple tree and Squawk steals Spud's nose when Spud tosses it to Squawk's feet.
  • In the Dizzy's Sandwich Rescue part, Dizzy imitates a sad siren wail.
  • Early US promos for the home media release of this special use the UK version of Bob's Brass Band.
  • At the beginning, a child can be seen wearing a shirt with The Powerpuff Girls on it.
